Database for BCM causing errors?

Hi All,

I tried to create a new project in BCM and I get an error indicating that there is already a project with that name. There is no project with that name in my list of projects! However, I think during one of the frequent installs and uninstalls before I was able to install a somewhat stable BCM, i might have created a project with that name prior to one of the many crashes (it still hangs and has to be killed in task manager periodically). I suspect I might have a rogue database that was created during one of the reinstalls which included installing and uninstalling small business accounting, which I have since also uninstalled. I have tried to use studio manager express to look at the tables in the databases, of which there are two, "mssmallbusiness" and "contctmgr 16022007" , in order to find an instance of a record with the name in question, no joy yet. Do I need the "mssmallbusiness" database to run BCM and if not can I delete it? I suspect that the mssmallbusiness database could be interfering somehow with the "contctmgr 16022007".

Since installing BCM, my outlook has slowed down considerably and hangs often on launch, I would abandon BCM, but I think it's a really cool tool and I would like to install small business accounting too! My machine is a centrino duo with 1 GB RAM and plenty HD space.

I know this message is somwhat convoluted, but if you can make sense of my issues, pls help.

You should ask this in a forum that support BCM, not SQL Express. I've got no idea what is and isn't required for BCM to operate.

We had a failure of a machine, but got the .mdf file off only. The .ldf was
unrecoverable. After restoring it, and running dbcc checkdb i get these
errors (although all seems ok in the database otherwise)

Hi,
First and best option is restore from the latest backup into a new database
and restore the transaction logs, because the data consistency would have
been
lost since the LDF file is lost/corrupted.
If you do not have any backup files then try the below options:
DBCC CHECKDB('dbname','REPAIR_REBUILD ')
if you still have errors then try using
DBCC CHECKDB('DBNAME','REPAIR_ALLOW_DATA_LOSS')
The above command can be ran only in single user mode and will result in
data loss. so the comamnd is not at all recommended.

I'm trying to script a SQL server 7 database using the
tool in EM. Every time I try I get error 220 Arithmetic
overflow error for data type smallint, value = 65535.
It's quite clearly correct in that it is out of range,
what I don't understand is why and what I can do to
resolve this error. After I found this out I discovered
that all the databases on this server give the same error
when I try to look at their properties using enterprise
manager.
Does anyone have any ideas what is causing this and how I
can prevent it

I decided to try to optimise the performance of my site, run a trace and then DETA.

And I am getting errors like these:

The "trouble" is that those sprocs do exist and that the site apparently is working fine. But not for DETA. As far as DETA is concerned... 54% of my processing power is used to serve syntax errors!

A couple of hints.
The database was an upgrade from 2000.:
- I changed the compatibility level to 2005 but no luck there. I tried with a brand new database, and the errors keep cropping up.

Which catelog are these stored proc resides? What is the catalog that you are using?|||

The database name is CommunityServer - the sprocs reside in it.

It is referenced like this in the web.config:
<add key="SiteSqlServer" value="uid=userXXX;server=SUXXX;pwd=XXXXX;database=CommunityServer;Min Pool Size=5;Max Pool Size=5000;Connect Timeout=20;" />

The issue has to do with the fact that we use ADO.NET to access the data whereas the tuning advisor uses SQL Native Client and thus it compares the actions to SQLNCLI's syntax.

The team of the tuning advisor should something about it.

Can you please use the -d option (dta.exe) or "Database for Workload Analysis" option in UI to set the database context to the database that contains the stored procedures.

|||What if the "Database for Workload Analysis" dropdown is way way way too small to see the entire database name? If I have 50 databases there and they all begin with the same first 20 characters, that's all I can see. How could I possible choose the correct database name in the dropdown?

I am sure you have heard of Community server - if not you are just using it ;)

I decided to try to optimise the performance of my site, run a trace and then DETA.

And I am getting errors like these:

The "trouble" is that those sprocs do exist and that the site apparently is working fine. But not for DETA. As far as DETA is concerned... 54% of my processing power is used to serve syntax errors!

A couple of hints.
The database was an upgrade from 2000.:
- I changed the compatibility level to 2005 but no luck there. I tried with a brand new database, and the errors keep cropping up.
